Model Dry Spell

As a model we all go through our highs and lows. Some months we are so busy and wish we could clone ourselves to be at every casting, job and/or event. While other times we sit and wait and wait and wait. I know the feelings and thoughts that run through your heads whenever we hit those "dry spell".

- Is this for me?

- Will I ever get another gig?

- Is it my hair/look/size?

- Do I need new pictures/new agent?

And the truth is 9 out of 10 times it's not any of the above. Here are some tips on staying positive.

- I strongly suggest staying away from spying on other model's websites and social  media pages (WE ALL DO IT). The less you see the better you will feel. God has provided us all a unique path and the devil likes to dangle folk’s success when we start doubting ourselves or feeling low. Avoid that by simply staying away.

-While you wait use this time to take care of your hair and skin. Trust me you will BOOK again so make sure you are ready to knock’em dead with your fabulous hair and skin. Make an appointment to get a deep conditioner and clean up your ends. Book a spa day for a fabulous facial and body scrub.

-Practice your craft. During off-season football players workout, do drills and go to practice camp so they can be ready for the season. Guess what? Modeling is a sport and you can sign up to various modeling boot camps to keep yourself in “tip-top” shape. My good friend Jeannie Ferguson has an awesome runway class and I recommend signing up.  Take a look at the video below for a snippet of her class

-Prepare for the rush by fixing your portfolio, printing out new pictures, try to recreate your business cards or comp cards.

-Check your model bag inventory. Make sure you have all you need for your next gig; Body foundation in black and nude, strapless bra in black and nude, seamless panties in black and nude, seamless thong in black and nude, black thighs, black tank top, leggings…..the necessities. Send out positive vibes by packing your model bag and putting it in the side, you will be BOOKED again.

-Pray Pray and Pray. Don't allow negative thoughts to take over, here are some amazing passage that can rejuvenate you.

Proverbs 16.9 - “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines out steps.”

Hebrews 11:1 – “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

Hebrews 10:36 – “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”

Galatians 6:9 – “So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.”

Isaiah 55:8 – “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

Again you will BOOKED again and when you do you will be ready.
